Crikey, has it been that long ???

Oops, sorry about that to all. We'll try to be a bit more frequent in posting in the future.

As most of you know we've been insanely busy in sorting business plans, and never-ending rounds of meetings with banks, accountants, notaires, the Chamber of Commerce, builders and of course the current owners of the bar.

All seems to be in hand though (as long as everyone pulls there finger out!) so watch this space for good news !

We're meeting the maire tomorrow. Hopefully he will be able to help us with some of the every day stuff including, we hope, some assistance in getting Katherine into school asap. Fingers crossed.

Interlude

From : Scott

Hmmm, need some kind of piano music like you used to get at the cinema really...

At this point, can I just apologise for what may turn into a drying up of the pictures ? It just took 20 odd minutes to upload the four on the Champredon post.

The reason for the delay ? Well, do you remember the internet speeds from before we all switched to broadband ? Our internet connection speed is half of that, ie. slooooooooooooooooooow. We think we're connected to the local telephone exchange by paper cups and string...

Now take into account that neither Shelly nor I are the most patient of people, and well, the blog might become more Financial Times and less Sun...

Just so's you know...

Here's some pictures of our new house.

This is the front door, with the 'shed' on the left. There's an old bread oven in here. Not that anyone uses it...apart from the cats to corner mice in !

This is the view from the back garden towards the back of the house. The two ground floor french doors to the left and middle are out fromt he lounge, and the right hand one is the kitchen. Upstairs, the left window is the spare room, and the right hand one is our bedroom.

To contrast this, here's a picture from the kitchen french door over the garden, and this is the view every morning for breakfast. Peaceful eh ?

And finally, here's a shot of the only passing traffic...being at the end of a dirt track has it's advantages !

From Long Stratton to deepest darkest France...

So, we finally left LS on 20th November at about 11.30. Admittedly minus a cat, and 25 minutes later we were back ! Thanks to a mad dash round on moving day, Tubbs went AWOL. We decided to leave her and said our goodbyes, only to get a call when we were just the other side of Diss to say that she had been found.

We turned round and got back to LS only to find that she wasn't actually in custody, so after another Keystone-Kops style chase, she scarpered again. By now we were in severe danger of missing the ferry so again made the call to leave her with the intention of getting her in a few weeks.

At this point, can we say a big THANK YOU to all of our friends who offered meals and fridge / laundry / drying facilities. Oh and cat caring duties !

Anyhoo, if you see a familiar silver Stilo on any of those Police ! Stop! programmes in the near future about some idiot speeding down to Dover, then deny all knowledge - let's just say none of us had been at the speeds we were doing along the M20. Well, not in a car anyway ! We made the ferry check in by a minute and a half...to find out there was a 30 minute delay.

Speedferries are fantastic - not only is the trip only £29 for a car and 5 passengers, but it's on a sea cat which only takes 55 minutes, and as they go to Boulogne and not Calais, you're half an hour further down the motorway. We've never had a problem with them, however they might keep an eye on us next time, as thanks to a rather choppy crossing, both Katherine and Matthew threw up repeatedly over both of us, to the extent that poor little Matthew returned to the car after docking in only a nappy ! We had to stop in the car park at the nearest supermarket in Boulogne so that we could all get changed. The car was, let's say, fragrant, what with the smell of sick, and also the bowel movements from one of the cats (Josie, we're looking at you) !

We eventually arrived at the new house at about 2.30 am.

New Year, New Blog !!!

From : Shelly and Scott

Rather than sending loads of emails to people (and given our internet connection speed) we thought we'd share our world via a blog, and let you all log into our adventures. So this is the first post to say Welcome to our blog, and Bonjour !

Please feel free to add any comments to any of our posts - we'd love to hear from all of you too.

So, we've got a fair bit to catch up on...
